Tatton Studios and Locations Talk 2024 Trends with LS Productions

At the end of last year at Focus in London, we had the exciting opportunity to catch up with Amy Morement, Head of Locations, from LS Productions. She’s a leader in the world of locations and offered us a sneak peek into the trends shaping TV & Film in 2024, especially for those of us in the North.

TV and location trends for 2024

We’d been at Focus presenting Britain’s Biggest Backlot, thousands of acres of private locations, land and our Studios/Production base opportunity on the Tatton Estate – the perfect space to create.

The Buzz Around the North of England

Henry Brooks kicked things off by asking Amy about the top trends for businesses like Tatton Studios and Locations. Amy didn’t hesitate to spotlight the growing excitement around the North of England. It’s not just the beautiful landscapes and vibrant cities; it’s about a new alliance between film offices that’s setting the stage for the North to become the UK’s filming powerhouse. This movement isn’t just local chatter – it’s a shift recognising the North’s untapped potential and unique charm.

Collaboration and Partnerships

Next, we dived into the importance of working together. Amy and Henry got into the nitty-gritty of partnerships, like the one between LS, Great Point and us at Tatton Studios and Locations. It’s clear that collaboration is key in our industry and when we join forces, we’re making magic happen. Just look at ‘A Kind of Spark’ – shot right here on the Tatton Estate and making waves for its impactful storytelling.

Creating a Unified Front

Another hot topic was the push for unity in regional film industries. Henry pointed out the need for a film office in Cheshire, a gap we’re eager to fill. By creating a more unified approach and connecting with initiatives like Screen North, we’re not just streamlining processes; we’re building a stronger, more competitive industry right here in the UK.

The Future of Filming in the North

Looking ahead to 2024, it’s clear that the North is on the rise. The trends Amy and Henry discussed, from regional buzz to the power of partnerships, are shaping an exciting future for filmmakers. With its rich heritage and diverse settings, the North is fast becoming the place to be for cutting-edge film and production.

As we wrapped up our chat at the LS stand, it was clear this wasn’t just your average industry talk. It was a glimpse into a future where the North isn’t just part of the conversation; it’s leading it. Keeping an eye on these trends isn’t just smart; it’s essential for anyone looking to make their mark in the ever-evolving world of film.

And hey, if you’re curious about getting a first-hand look at Britain’s biggest backlot, why not sign up for one of our estate tours here? We’d love to show you around!
