2018 has been quite a year for Tatton TV & Film, and we’re only halfway through! The new year started with a bang with AbbottVision filming with us and an ITV flagship visiting the Tatton Estate to add it’s 6000+ acres of locations to their library. We were also lucky enough to have visits from Tiger Aspect and Amazon Prime for some blockbuster dramas that will be coming to our TVs early next year.
The Beast from the East well and truly hit, but we headed out in our big red landy nonetheless, showing location scouts and producers a’plenty our wares and securing some truly exciting filming.
Spring finally started to peek around the corner and some brave daffodils forced their way out at Tatton Studios, and before we knew it, it was that time of year again – the BBC were back to set up for their third series of The Worst Witch with us! The hardstanding became busier, dock doors were swung open, cobwebs were dusted off old sets, and new cobwebs were put on others by the wonderful art team!
The spring also saw the start of our Locations Database roll out, adding Combermere Abbey and a stunning private residence to our roster. These were swiftly followed by a rural theatre and an Italian lakeside villa! May also saw Tiger Aspect taking over one of our sites for an entire episode of their upcoming drama. No spoilers here but the reinstatement operation was a hefty one with plenty of elbow grease required – get ready to click ‘series link’ and grab a cushion to hide behind! We also welcomed Coronation Street to our credits with one of our churches featuring as the location for the funeral of ‘Aidan’.
Tatton Tech, one of our Tatton Group partners, launched their super-fast rural broadband much to the glee of the BBC…
“Tatton Tech supply high-speed broadband at Tatton Studios, allowing our production team to send high definition content back to Media City. The internet and the team are great!”
Matt Green, Location Manager, BBC
We are now casting our eyes to the Autumn and Winter with a slew of location tours in the pipeline and a sense of excitement at what is to come. We are avidly counting down the days until December when our latest feature film, Tolkien (Fox Searchlight) starring Nicholas Hoult, hits cinemas.
If the first half of the year is anything to go by, we’re in for a good one!
